Young athletes crossed the Taiwan Strait for a shared passion for basketball, gathering in Longyou to compete, connect and celebrate friendship.
The 2026 Kaifeng New Materials Cup Cross-Strait Basketball Invitational Tournament concluded successfully after four days of competition. Six high-level youth basketball teams and more than 120 athletes from both sides of the Taiwan Strait took part, using the game as a bridge for communication and friendship.

The tournament brought together leading university teams, a professional youth squad and prominent school basketball programs. Different playing styles met on the court, producing a series of competitive and exciting games.
While the players competed wholeheartedly during each match, they also formed new friendships away from the court. Basketball connected young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait through teamwork, respect and a shared love of sport.
Building a New Platform for Cross-Strait Exchange
Sport is a universal language that crosses geographical boundaries and brings people together. Held in Longyou, a county known for its welcoming culture, the tournament was both a high-level basketball event and an opportunity for cross-strait youth exchange.
Games were held simultaneously at Longyou County Gymnasium and Huzhen Oriental Sports Plaza, allowing residents in both the urban area and Huzhen to enjoy high-quality basketball close to home.
During their time in Longyou, the young athletes exchanged basketball skills and training experiences while learning more about the local culture. These interactions helped participants better understand one another and develop lasting connections through sport.
Six Teams and Six Distinct Playing Styles
Chung Yuan Christian University
Representing university basketball from Taiwan, Chung Yuan Christian University displayed agile movement, smooth passing and creative teamwork. Its players brought resilience and a distinctive playing style to the tournament.
Zhejiang Guangsha Youth Team
As a development squad affiliated with the CBA’s Zhejiang Guangsha club, the team demonstrated strong physical ability, high-intensity defense and a fast-paced approach on both ends of the court.
Soochow University
A regular participant in CUBAL competition, Soochow University impressed with mature teamwork and a well-developed tactical system.
Hailiang High School
Known for its commitment to integrating education with athletic development, Hailiang High School brought energetic young players whose speed and determination made them a strong presence on the court.
South China University of Technology
As an established university basketball program in southern China, South China University of Technology demonstrated balanced offense and defense, extensive competition experience and disciplined execution.
High School Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University
This emerging school basketball team played with confidence, determination and youthful energy, reflecting the promise of a new generation of athletes.
Youthful Energy Shines on the Court
Throughout the tournament, every athlete respected the rules, competed with determination and demonstrated a genuine passion for basketball.
Each possession reflected skill and preparation, while every transition between offense and defense tested teamwork and decision-making. The players respected their opponents and treated every game seriously, improving their abilities by learning from one another.
The tournament showcased not only athletic performance but also the sportsmanship, confidence and positive spirit of today’s young people.
In addition to the main competition, the program included a recreational basketball tournament and a children’s dance performance, adding community participation and a warm, lively atmosphere to the event.

The Cross-Strait Basketball Invitational Tournament was more than a contest of skill. It served as a bridge for cultural exchange and meaningful interaction between young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Connected by sport and united by a shared passion, the participants competed, learned and grew together in Longyou.
Looking ahead, Kaifeng New Materials will continue supporting cultural and sporting exchanges while helping create more opportunities for communication and cooperation. Through these initiatives, we hope to strengthen connections and encourage young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to move toward the future together.
