At Kaifeng, sustainability is not a slogan on the wall—it is something we insist on living out every single day. Paper manufacturing is a complex industry, and we know the impact it can have on the environment.
This is why, many years ago, we made a simple promise: every improvement we make should bring us one step closer to greener production.
Here is how that promise shows up in our daily production.

For Kaifeng, sustainable production starts long before the machines begin to run. It begins with the fibers we choose.
We use FSC-certified wood pulp, not because it looks good on paper, but because we want to make sure every tree used is replaced, managed responsibly, and treated as part of a living ecosystem. Over the years, we have also worked hard to increase the amount of recycled pulp we use. Every ton of recycled fiber means fewer trees cut and less pressure on natural forests.
Even the chemical additives we use are carefully selected. Our team prefers harmless and biodegradable agents, because we want our products to be as friendly to the environment as they are to our customers.
Bleaching is one of the most sensitive parts of papermaking. We take this very seriously.
Kaifeng uses ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) and TCF (Totally Chlorine Free) processes—technologies that drastically reduce harmful substances compared with traditional chlorine bleaching. We also choose low-VOC, low-toxicity additives to keep both our products and our workplace safer.
For us, this is not just a technical upgrade. It’s a responsibility.
Water is the lifeblood of a paper factory. But we believe that water should be treated with deep respect.
Years ago, our white-water reuse rate was 40%. Today, thanks to large-scale ultrafiltration equipment and advanced membrane treatment technology, we have raised that rate to 95%.
This did not happen overnight. It happened because our engineers kept asking the same question over and over: “How can we do better?”
We now reuse water 3–5 times before it leaves the system. We built our own wastewater treatment station. And we continuously fine-tune the process to reduce consumption even further.
Every improvement saves thousands of tons of water—and that matters to us.
The world is changing, and so must the way we power our factories. To reduce reliance on fossil fuels, Kaifeng invested in an 11MW distributed photovoltaic power station.
On sunny days, if you walk across our factory yard, you’ll see rows of solar panels quietly doing their work. They don’t make noise, but they make a difference—cutting emissions and bringing us closer to a low-carbon future.

People often assume that “smart manufacturing” is cold and mechanical. But in Kaifeng, technology helps us protect the environment and take better care of our team.
Our main production line is built on German Voith technology, supported by a French Alimand headbox, Japan Aikawa refining systems, Siemens drive controls, and Honeywell QCS for real-time moisture and weight monitoring.
These systems help us reduce waste, stabilize quality, and keep the workshop clean. In fact, the entire process is designed with stainless steel systems to make cleaning easier and prevent residue buildup.
But at the heart of it all is still our team—engineers, operators, technicians—people who care deeply about running the factory responsibly.
Kaifeng’s approach to green manufacturing is not about chasing trends.
It’s about making choices—every day, every shift, every production run.
This is how we want to grow.
This is how we want to serve our customers.
And this is the kind of paper we are proud to make.
